Go into iMovie and add 2 videos. Choose One video and put it on the timeline. Click on the Second video and press on the 3 dots option. Press on the Overlay button to place the 2 videos as you like. In the previous iMovie version, you can choose the Side by Side feature to make a split-screen: Step 1. Drag and drop the video clips to the timeline. Open a project so that it's showing in the Project browser, and then do one of the following: Rest the playhead (the red vertical line) at the point where you want to split the clip, and then press Command-Shift-S. Hold down the Control key, and then click where you want to split the clip. Choose Split Clip from the shortcut menu that appears.

You can split a clip you've added to a project into two or three parts. This is useful when you want to insert a transition or when you want to apply video effects or audio adjustments to just part of the clip.
You can't split a clip in the Event browser.

Hold down the Control key, and then click where you want to split the clip. Choose Split Clip from the shortcut menu that appears.
Select a region of the clip beginning at one end up to the point where you want to split the clip, and then choose Clip > Split Clip.

Open a project so that it's showing in the Project browser.
Select a frame range that begins and ends in the middle of the clip (don't select all the way to either end).
Do either of the following:
Choose Clip > Split Clip.
The Clip menu appears in a light gray bar across the top of your computer screen.
Press Command-Shift-S, only if you've selected more than five frames.
If you change your mind about splitting a clip, press Command-Z to undo the split. If you've already moved a piece of the clip, place the pieces next to each other in their original positions, select one of the clips, and then choose Clip > Join Clip.
